About the Research Report

This national ecosystem scan, conducted in 2023, evaluates and highlights opportunities to implement reuse and refill systems as a strategy to reduce single-use plastic waste and transition towards a more circular economy for plastic packaging in Canada.

- A range of solutions to reduce plastic waste, including eliminating unnecessary single-use plastics, redesigning products to be more recyclable and reusable, and developing new business models focused on sustainability.
- An urgent call to action from the Plastics Pact Network to tackle plastic pollution, with plastic production expected to double by 2035 and 1.3 billion tonnes of plastic waste projected by 2040. The report emphasizes the critical role of governments in implementing policies and regulations that drive the transition to a circular economy for plastic packaging.
