Issues include shelf-life constraints, production equipment runability, and confusion about circularity amid evolving technologies. As film and flexible plastic packaging constitutes nearly half of all plastic packaging placed on the market today, achieving circularity for film and flexible packaging is vital for addressing the plastic waste crisis.
In response to these challenges, the Canada and U.S. Plastics Pacts co-hosted a series of technical workshops to identify current innovation pathways for flexibles and films across different plastic packaging formats and to solve technical issues and challenges for converting to mono-material flexibles and films.
