Vaseline’s new recyclable pump supports Unilever’s plastics progress

Unilever’s Vaseline brand has introduced an innovative recyclable pump for its pump-action bottles in North America. Unlike traditional pumps that contain a metal spring inside the plastic—making them difficult to recycle—this new design eliminates the metal spring, allowing for easier recycling. The pump is now widely recyclable in more than half of recycling facilities across the U.S. and Canada.

Unilever has also incorporated 50% recycled plastic into all its Vaseline Intensive Care lotion bottles in North America, eliminating the need for over 500 metric tons of virgin plastic since 2018. In addition, Vaseline has reduced its plastic footprint by more than 130 metric tons by making its packaging lighter.
